Retinal laser treatment uses focused light to treat retinal tears, seal leaking blood vessels, and reduce abnormal blood vessel growth. Most laser procedures are performed in the office and take only minutes.
Conditions treated with laser
Retinal tears, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusion, and central serous retinopathy are among the conditions that may be treated with laser.
What to expect
Your eye is numbed with drops and a special contact lens is placed on the eye. You may see bright flashes during treatment. Vision may be blurry for a few hours afterward, and you should arrange for someone to drive you home.
