Four decades at the forefront of retinal medicine

About

Dr. James M. Maisel completed his fellowship training under the pioneers of vitreoretinal surgery and has spent his career applying, teaching, and advancing their techniques. He has performed tens of thousands of retinal injections, laser procedures, and vitreoretinal surgeries for patients across Long Island.

Beyond the operating room, Dr. Maisel has served on pharmaceutical advisory boards for the medications used to treat macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease, lectured to physicians nationally, and received the Banko Award for innovation in retinal care. He is among the first retina specialists in the region to offer Valeda light therapy for dry AMD.

Most importantly, he still sees every patient himself, explains every diagnosis in plain language, and makes time for your questions.
