Central serous retinopathy
Central serous retinopathy
Central serous retinopathy is a build-up of fluid under the retina that causes blurred or distorted central vision. It often resolves on its own but should be monitored by a retina specialist.
Symptoms
Blurred or dim central vision, objects appearing smaller or farther away, and distortion of straight lines. Central serous retinopathy often affects adults in their 30s to 50s and is associated with stress and steroid use.
Treatment
Many cases resolve on their own within a few months. When fluid persists, treatment options include photodynamic therapy, micropulse laser, or medications. Reducing steroid exposure and managing stress may help.

Frequently asked
Will central serous retinopathy come back?
